Homework Tips
Have a Hassle Free Homework Session
1. Have a healthy snack and/or beverage when you get home before
you start your homework.
2. Don't try to complete all the homework in one sitting.
3. Take a break every 15 - 20 minutes. Deep breathing gives you a
burst of energy.
4. If something is too difficult - go on to something else and
come back to the problem when you can look at it in a fresh light.
5. Always do your homework in the same location.
6. Keep the television turned off until you are finished.
7. Use a desk or workstation for your homework time.
8. If you forgot an assignment call a classmate as soon as
possible to get the details.
9. Don't procrastinate - get the job done.
10. Place your finished assignments in your folder and/or backpack to
be sure they are ready to turn in when due.
When parents establish guidelines for homework time it
becomes a hassle free afternoon. The child will understand your expectations
and a regular routine will be established each day. If you and your
child want to sit down and develop your own set of homework guidelines then
that is all the better. You are giving your child a major lesson in
decision making, organization and time management skills.
